Rancho Bob Wins XORRA Rock Racing Event In January

Filed under: Fresh Dirt — Charlie @ 4:00 pm

Bob Willis Wins

From an Xtreme Off-Road Racing Association (XORRA) Press Release:

LaFollette, TN (February 15, 2010) - On January 30, a group of the nation’s top Xtreme Off-Road racers invaded Southern California’s Angels Stadium for an action packed night of Advanced Auto Parts Monster Jam by Ford Trucks and Arena Rock Racing brought to you by the XORRA. Starting with the pre show “Ford Party in the Pits,” the teams were able to display their race vehicles along with visiting the more than 20,000 “Superfans” that came out early just to meet the drivers. Once the show started the 50,000 plus fans in attendance witnessed some of the wildest action Xtreme Motorsports has to offer.

With such drivers as 100% Cottin Rodd, XRRA Dominator Rick Deremo, Dan McDonald and Rancho’s Bob Willis putting it all on the line the fans got a taste of the future of Xtreme Off-Road Racing arena style.

After the first two heats and once the dust had settled, Bob Willis and Dan McDonald found that they were the last men standing going into the final round of the evening. The race started off neck and neck but then McDonald started to pull ahead and it looked as though he was going to clinch the win, but as fate would have it he caught a bad line and ended up wrong side down. Willis seeing his opportunity ran the rest of his race flawlessly to take the checkered flag and the win.

Bob Willis, first place

Dan McDonald, second place

Rick Deremo, third place

“XORRA is extremely happy that Feld Motorsports and Monster Jam have seen the incredible potential that our brand of Xtreme Motorsports brings to the fans,” said XORRA Co-Founder Michael Weaver. “The fantastic crew at Feld has been great to work with and we could not be more pleased that they contacted us to be part of this event.”

From a HUMMER News Release:

H3 Moab

HUMMER is the ultimate vehicle for the independent spirit, and the H3 Moab is no exception. Inspired by trails like Steel Bender, Moab Rim, and Poison Spyder, the H3 Moab pays homage to one of the world’s greatest landscapes and off-road enthusiasts’ playground.

Beginning with the solid off-road foundation of a 300-horsepower, V8-powered H3 Alpha with factory-installed front- and rear- locking differentials, the H3 Moab features a combination of production equipment, available aftermarket components and specialized modifications.

At the heart of the H3 Moab’s design is the combination of a Rancho four-inch front suspension lift and a custom rear spring-over conversion inspired by current HUMMER engineering test vehicles. The suspension modifications are supported by Rancho shocks and sure-footed performance is provided by its 35-inch BF Goodrich Mud-Terrain KM2 tires mounted on custom 17-inch 2-piece Monster Black Competition Beadlock Raceline Wheels by Allied.

The H3’s standard underbody protection has been augmented with additional custom shielding and a HUMMER Genuine Accessory brushguard and rocker protection provide the Canyon Metallic exterior paint with defense against the elements. Mounted atop the H3 is a Gobi Ranger roof basket to increase cargo carrying capacity for long overland journeys. The H3 Moab also features HUMMER Genuine Accessory lower grille mounted lamps and six Delta Xenon roof basket-mounted off-road lamps to provide lighting in all conditions.

Rounding out the exterior enhancements are a Predator Motorsports H3 winch mount system with a Warn XD9000 winch and Viking Off-Road synthetic winchline to deliver an integrated recovery solution for any situation encountered on the trail.

Functional additions to the H3 Moab continue into the vehicle’s interior with the addition of custom all-weather flooring, HUMMER Genuine Accessory all-weather floor mats and cargo area mat. To aid in trail visibility, front- and rear-facing cameras have been integrated into the vehicle bumpers and display the terrain fore and aft on the navigation radio screen. Integrated into the rear cargo area of the vehicle is a Warn Air-Power SPI, ideal for airing-up tires for the trip home after a long weekend on the trail.

Rancho Announces Sponsorship of the Popular XRRA Series for Fifth Consecutive Season

Filed under: Fresh Dirt — Charlie @ 4:05 pm

Rancho® has announced its fifth year of sponsorship for the popular Xtreme Rock Racing Association (XRRA) circuit — an eminent series of off-road racing in the United States — and will continue as the "Official Suspension of Xtreme Rock Racing."

"We’re very excited to be involved in XRRA for a fifth year," said Bob Willis, Sales Manager, West Coast, Performance Products, Tenneco. "XRRA and Rancho share the same goal: to push the off-road community to a new level. XRRA provides Rancho with the perfect opportunity to test and build brand-new ground-breaking off-road products."

The XRRA is the industry-leading Xtreme Off-Road Racing Organization offering Xtreme Rock Racing, Arena Rock Racing and other exciting Xtreme Off-Road Race events throughout the globe. The XRRA offers an intense mix of off-road racing — from short-course, wide-open jumps and banked turns to technicial lines that can be unforgiving — to make for non-stop action from the starting line to the checkered flag. The 2009 XRRA includes six events (three West events and three East events) and one National Championship.

"The XRRA is very pleased to continue our relationship with Rancho for a fifth consecutive year. Rancho’s support will progress the growth of Xtreme Off-Road Racing throughout the nation, and will allow the XRRA to expose Xtreme Rock Racing, Arena Rock Racing and Xtreme Off-Road Racing to thousands of new fans," said XRRA President Jodi Weaver.

The popular XRRA series season opened April 11, 2009, in Moab, Utah, in conjunction with "Big Saturday at the Red Rock Raceway" during the Red Rock 4-Wheelers, Inc. Jeep Easter Safari. For more details and the complete schedule, please visit www.XORRacing.com.

Rancho also will sponsor two drivers in the XRRA series: Rob Bonney and Bob Willis. Bonney, who finished second in the Western Division series of XRRA in 2008, will drive the classic orange Rancho- and 4Wheelers Supply-outfitted rock buggy. Willis will compete in his four-seat Rancho rock buggy.

Rancho will continue to sponsor the XRRA/Rancho "Alter Your Ego" Contingency Award program. This program identifies the one competitor/team who has shown a high degree of sportsmanship, teamwork or great driving during each round of competition. Rancho will present this after every round of competition during 2009.
